The Open Market app is a guide to local and farmers markets, to typical products and the cultural events occurring in the area between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, specifically in the provinces of Padua, Venice, Gorizia and Trieste. This is one of the activities developed by "Open Market. Historical cities, local and farmers markets between squares, courtyards and barchessas", a Cooperation Project promoted by the Bassa Padovana LAG (leading organization) with the Antico Dogado, Patavino, Pianura Veronese and Carso (Karst) ‒ LAS Kras LAGs.

Created to promote the quality and authenticity of Italian products and productions, the app offers a detailed and up-to-date map of the weekly local and farmers markets scheduled in the towns of Abano Terme, Arzergrande, Bovolenta, Campagna Lupia, Campolongo Maggiore, Candiana, Cavarzere, Chioggia, Codevigo, Cona, Conselve, Correzzola, Este, Mira, Monselice, Montagnana, Pontelongo, Terrassa Padovana and in the Carso (Karst) area (Friuli Venezia Giulia). The map also offers relevant information (hours, addresses, contact info), as well as images and texts about local historical and cultural traditions.

The market section is complemented by an additional section about the local PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) products: from Este ceramics to Grana Padano PDO; from olive oil PDO Veneto Berico-Euganeo and Tergeste del Carso to ham PDO Veneto Berico-Euganeo; from CDO (Controlled Designation of Origin) wines Bagnoli, Carso, Colli Euganei, Corti Benedettine, Merlara and Riviera del Brenta to radicchio PGI from Chioggia and Castelfranco Veneto.

A third section is devoted to historical, cultural and food and wine events (festivals, fairs, festivities, medieval pageants, palios) scheduled from spring through autumn in the relevant areas: from the Conche Asparagus Festival to the Cona Frog Festival; from the Marciliana di Correzzola to the Palio of the Ten Towns in Montagnana; from the ancient Fair of St Augustine in Conselve to the Fair of the Saints in Monselice, and many others.

Finally, a fourth section illustrates the “Islands of Quality”, or specific spots created in local and farmers markets for shops and street vendors who are particularly committed to the promotion and enhancement of Italian food and wine and artisanal products.
